Carlsbad's new sign
Sunshine this morning!  I fixed the coffee and we had that while checking up on our computer stuff.  Gerri made plans to visit with Hollis later today.  Hollis, Wendy and 4 of their grandchildren are staying at the Wyndham near the Oceanside pier.

Todd called around 11, they were riding the San Louis Rey River Trail and wanted to stop and visit with us on the way back to Carlsbad. The trail is a little north of the park so they have to go by us to get to the Carlsbad Inn. It was about 12 when they got to the park.  They were riding their tandem bicycles.  The had snacks of walnuts and raisins.  Gerri got out apples and some cheese, they also tried the Sunshine-ones prunes. They stayed about an hour and then continued their ride.  It is about 3 miles from The Paradise by the Sea  RV Resort to the Carlsbad Inn.

Hollis and Wendy in rear.
Gerri made contact with Hollis and arranged to meet them on the beach near the pier in Oceanside.  The pier is only a couple of miles north of us.  Even on a Wednesday parking was at a premium.  We did find a spot at a small lot almost under the pier.  By use of texting and waving of arms we found Hollis and his group.  At first we only had Hollis and Wendy, Wendy rounded up the four grandchildren and Gerri took a group picture. We had seen Daqri at Christmas time, she now lives in Las Vegas,  But we hadn't seen her brother Jax and sister Kinsie for several years.  He has grown into a tall young man and Kinsie we hadn't seen since she was a baby.  JJ we see since she lives with Hollis and Wendy in Las Vegas. We didn't stay long before we headed for the Carlsbad Inn.  We planned to have dinner with Curtis' family.

We sat on the Green and visited for a while watching the kids play the organized lawn games with the resort staff.  The Carlsbad Inn is very good at organizing activities and crafts that appeal to the younger guests.  Dana grilled steaks and they were served with baked potatoes and a green salad.  I don't know if I mentioned it before but there is another coach at the RV Park owned by "The Potato Man."  He has been here every summer that we know of and stays all summer.  Well, the coach stays all summer.  He and his son own potato farms all over the west.  He puts out two or three boxes of potato varieties and they are free for the taking.  In many ways Vanessa and Brandon are picky eaters, but not when it comes to steak.  Vanessa ate all but about two bites of her's and it was a large New York strip steak.
Only the steaks on the right are ours

After dinner, a little more visiting and goodbyes with Curt and his family we went to Todd's unit for desert.  Curt and Dana planned to get root beer floats and watch the movie on the Green.  At Todd's we had desert of cantaloupe.  Jeannette had cut up two cantaloupes.  They were both good but had distinctively different flavors.  We played two hands of Uno with Todd and Wyatt before saying goodnight and heading back to the RV Park.
