Monday June 29, 2015 Oceanside, CA

It was a lazy morning.  The noise from the street was no problem for either of us sleeping.

Oceanside Harbor
We had our coffee and didn't stir from the coach until about 2 PM.  Before leaving I put the flag pole and flags up.  First we drove around to Buccaneer Beach.  Gerri had never been there and wanted to see what the restaurant there looked like.  The restaurant closed at 2.  It is very small with outside seating.  After that we drove up through Oceanside to the harbor
before going to the Carlsbad Inn.

At the Carlsbad Inn we wanted to make sure on the reservations for Curtis, Todd and their families next week.  We were assured everything was ready.

We then went to Norte's for an early dinner.  We had chips and dip and then shared an appetizer with extra guacamole.

Back at the coach we caught up on computer activity.  When I checked the lights Saturday evening after hooking up the Jeep, I found a headlight out.  I wasn't too worried about it since we seldom drive at night.  I pulled the bulb out today.  Since it was the low beam bulb, I switched the high beam bulb into it's place.  Some time this week I will find a NAPA store and get a new bulb.

At about 7:30 I decided to go down near the beach and look for a cache and then take pictures of the sunset.  I didn't find the cache but I did find the sunset looking from Buccaneer Beach.  It was interesting.  I saw the sunset in the west and the moon waxing towards full in the east.

It will be full tomorrow

I did look for another cache before it got completely dark.  It was in a park and ride lot off Vista near the I-5.  Over the years I have done at least two others here, but caches go missing and others replace them.

Yesterday the satellite TV didn't work.  I may get around to checking it out more tomorrow.  We can only get a few channels off the air.  I might check out the park cable too.  There is a lot to do.  I still have to clean out the storage bays since they got so dirty on our Alaska adventure.

Sunday June 28, 2015 Paradise by the Sea, Oceanside, CA

Today is the start a motorhome trip that if all goes well end in mid-September.

We had spent some time every day since Thursday getting things into or out of the coach.  The heat didn't make it an easy job.  By Saturday evening we had everything transferred to the coach that we needed except the food items from the fridge and the freezer.  I even had the Jeep hooked up and ready to tow.  I hope to pull out between 9 and 10 AM.

Gerri got me up a little before 7 and I made the coffee.  We started getting things out to the coach.  We were actually finished and ready to go a little after 8. We left the house at 8:30.  Check in time at the RV Park is 2 or after, so I wanted to get there before late afternoon.

There was quite a bit of traffic on I-15 south.  Just after crossing into California there was an accident ahead of us.  We saw a huge cloud of dust where one of the cars went into the median and then swerved across all the southbound lanes and into the dirt beyond the shoulder.  The driver managed to get back up onto the paved shoulder and we saw him out of the car talking to another driver who had stopped.

All the rest of the way to Escondido the traffic was backed up and slow at all major off and on ramps and in other places for no reason that we could see.  We took CA-78 west to the coast Highway and then a few blocks north to the Paradise by the Sea RV Resort.

We arrived at about 3:30 and were assigned to space 1.  The space was behind the check in parking. even though the space is a pull through the Greeter recommended backing in because of the narrow street at the back of the space.  He guided me back and into the space and we soon had the utilities hooked up.

We ordered pizza delivered for supper.  It was very good and we have plenty of leftovers.

We spent some time getting caught up on computer activities.  I am using the one piece touchscreen that I have had trouble with.  I had it worked on and the tech reset it to factory settings.  I had spent a considerable amount of time reloading the programs I use and getting all my bookmarks transferred.  When I tried to log on to the Church website the computer started acting just like it did before it was worked on.  After a couple of restarts I got it going again, but am ready to get out my old laptop and use it.

On the drive down Gerri couldn't get the Sirius radio to work.  I forgot about that problem and then when we tried to turn on DirecTV here at the part we didn't get reception.  I think the problem is there are palm trees near our site blocking the satellite signal.  I will check that out tomorrow.  They have cable in the park and if I can find the right settings we should be able to get local TV through the antenna.

At a little after 8 we noticed the sky turning red.  There wasn't time to walk down to the beach.  As it turns out this is one of those places in California that when you look straight out to sea, that is more south than west.

Gerri called it a night at about 9 and  I stayed up until 10.
