Sunday August 3, 2014 Cache Creek, British Columbia, Canada

Our wildlife for the day
We were up just after Brad thumped.  I made coffee and we started drinking it while we got ready to leave.  I had hooked up the Jeep last night.  This morning I had to drain the sewer tanks and fill up the fresh water tanks. Tomorrow is a dry camp with no hookups at all. I rolled up the hoses and cord.  We were leaving the park at 8:40    We had so much trouble with the electricity supply and internet service we were glad to leave this park.

I waited until we were near our destination before fueling up.  This way we shouldn't have to buy fuel again before we get back to the US.

The Fraser River Valley

The road was good, as promised and we made good time.  We didn't take many pictures along the way because of the haze in the air.  We were told it was smoke from the Washington fires.  We haven't had TV since we left Alberta, so we haven't seen any news.

We arrived at the Hat Creek Ranch at about 3:30.  We were actually at the ranch at 2:30 but there was some confusion as to where we were to park.

It turns out there were some spaces with power.  We drew lots to see who got them, we didn't.

It was still quite warm so most people, especially those with pets, ran generators until after supper.

We were given a tour of the ranch and a demonstration of traditional Indian life.  Here in Canada they don't call them Indians.  They are First Nations People. The presenter did say she was glad they don't have to live the old way.

We also shot a bow and arrow.  A bullseye got a prize of a free ice cream cone.  Many of our group had never shot a bow and no ice cream was given away.

We rode a stage coach back from the Indian village.  The coach was pulled by a team of two horses.  The tour also included a tour of a building that had served as a road house for any years.  It progressed from a log cabin to a sprawling two story building over the years.  It was too dark in the roadhouse for pictures and they ask that we use no flash.

Dinner was prepared by the staff.  We had a chicken dish with shell macaroni, salad and dessert.

After the dinner and briefing on tomorrow's travel, Dave and I walked to a nearby geocache.  For some reason this one didn't show up on my query for the Cache Creek area.  I found it using my iPhone after we got an internet connection.  I had to find at least one cache in an area named Cache Creek.

The internet connection improved to the point I was able to catch up on the blogs.

We were in bed by 11.  We have a short drive tomorrow but we have a tour and lunch along the way.
