Friday August 1, 2014 Fort Telkwa, British Columbia, Canada

We were up, had our coffee and on the road by 9 AM.  Since I had over a half tank of fuel I decided not to drive into Stewart and fill up.  With only a little over 200 miles to drive I really didn’t need more fuel.  I certainly didn't need it enough to drive a few miles out of the way for it.

We back tracked on route PH-37A and turned South east on PH-37, toward Prince George.  The road took us back past Bear Glacier.  The road was smooth but had a lot of curves.  I was able to go 55-60 MPH a lot of the way.
Today's Black Bear
It seemed faster because the metric equivalent is 90.  We were driving through forests most of the time and we could see snow capped mountains, some with glaciers, in the distance.  At mile 100 we saw a black bear at the edge of the road but he got nervous as we slowed down and moved off into the woods.

As we got further south the area became more populated.  There were villages on and near the highway, with a lot of agricultural activity as we got closer to Smithers.  Smithers is quite a large town just north of our destination of Fort Telkwa.  We stopped in Smithers at a self service truck wash and knocked a lot of the dirt and grime of the coach and Jeep.  I didn’t realize how much I had missed until they dried.  I stopped at a service station and topped off the fuel tank before arriving at the RV Park.  The RV Park is along a river and many of the sites back up to it with a nice view.

I only hooked up to electricity since we are only here one night.  After setting up we sat in Howard and Prisilla’s site for quite awhile yakking.  Dinner was at 6.  The staff had prepared spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread and salad.   We are so fortunate to have the staff we do.  We have been told that most Wagon Masters and Tail Gunners don’t do as much cooking as ours.  After dinner we had the briefing on tomorrow’s travel.  It sounded like a pretty straight forward route, follow the signs toward Prince George.

After dinner we returned to the coach.  It had gotten warm inside and we ran the air conditioner.  We tried to get on the internet.  Gerri was able to get on but kept getting dropped.  I was able to log on to the network but had had no internet connection.

We read for awhile and called it a night.
