Sunday August 10, 2014 Mt. Vernon, WA

In Everett, WA

Milana and Kayla, sisters

We were up at 7, and started our coffee.  We spent the morning just laying around after catching up on e-mail and Facebook.  Gerri had resigned her position as administrator of her egg hunting group.  This morning she just hunted.  She hunted eggs in another network she could feel comfortable with.

At 9 we tried to tune into Bible Study from the Oakey Blvd. Church of Christ.  But the internet service was intermittent.  We couldn't follow the lesson.  By worship time at 10 the service was pretty consistent.  We got through the sermon but the internet failed us during the Lord's Supper.  I led the Lords Supper for us with prayers of thanks and remembrance for Christ's sacrifice we ate the bread and drank the fruit of the vine.  We carry communion supplies with us when we travel.

Our plan for the afternoon was to meet our granddaughters Milana(18) and Kayla (well older) in Everett for lunch.  Kayla lives in Seattle and Milana lives in Bellevue.  Kayla picked a Mediterranean Restaurant in Everett because it was mid-way between Seattle and La Conner, where she thought we were staying and it had lots of good reviews.  We got there at 2:25 just a few minutes before the girls arrived.

Kayla's meal, a Greek Flatbread
We had seen Milana in Reno in early June but it had been over a year since we had seen Kayla.  Even in that short a time and having pictures available, I tend to forget how beautiful these girls are.  They take after their Grandmother.  Add their sweet dispositions and family love together with their intelligent conversation and it is a real thrill and pleasure to see them.

We lingered over our meal for over three hours before saying our goodbyes.  It was good to see them but a bittersweet parting.

On the way back to Mt. Vernon we stopped at a Walmart for a few items, including a birthday card for our youngest granddaughter, Vanessa, who is turning 6.

Back at the coach Gerri was getting cards ready to send so I could get them to the post office. While she was writing the cards Vanessa called on Skype.  She showed us all her birthday presents she had received today at her early birthday party.  I thought the call was over and headed to the post office.  That was another adventure.  The one the GPS showed closest wasn't there so I had to go into Burlington , about 10 miles away.

I did a few caches on the way back to the coach before it got too dark to see.  When I got back Gerri told me how the Skype call had went on to Vanessa and Brandon telling her ghost stories.  They were making them up as they went and were very dramatic in the story telling.

My meal, clam linguini
Some computer time and reading rounded out the day.  It was a GREAT day. Tomorrow we move on to the Oregon coast.
