Sunday April 6, 2014 Hilo, H i

We arrived in Hilo and were docked by 8:30.  We took our time getting ready to go into town.  We had only a couple of things planned.  A trip to Walmart, a visit to the Big Island Candy Company and at least one geocache.

The morning was grey and never really cleared up.  I took a couple of pictures but they weren't very good.  Since we are back in the US we were able to catch up everything on the Internet.  We went to the Horizon Court for breakfast and coffee before going ashore.

We walked out of the harbor area and found the first geocache on this trip.

We tried to re-enter the harbor but it turns out I didn't bring a picture ID.  I had to go to a security station and have them call and verify that I was a passenger before we could get back to the cab stand.

Our first stop was Walmart.  I bought a blood pressure cuff and a new straw hat.  Gerri checked to see if we had prescriptions on file for antibiotics that could be filled, we didn't.

Big Island Candies
Our next stop was the Big Island Candy Company.  This shop is famous for their macadamia nut shortbread cookies dipped diagonally in chocolate.

After shopping we headed back to the ship.  We relaxed around the pool and read for a few hours.  I did check out the Promenade deck to see if it went all around the ship.  It did, sort of.  Near the bow you have to go up some stairs to deck 8 and then back down on the other side.  2.5 times around for a mile.  With all the walking today, I made it to almost 8000 steps and several flights of stairs.

The hors d'oeuvres in the Skywalker's Lounge were a variety of cheeses.  While we were there we talked to couples from Arizona and Florida.

We went to our regular dinner seating and then a show in the Vista Lounge.
