Tuesday August 16, Cavendish, PEI, Canada

We slept in this morning.  After our coffee we decided to drive along the coast road.

We drove into a National park and saw some red rock and sand beaches at first and then it was back to the rolling farm land.

I set the GPS for a town called Souris.  We never made it that far.  We came to a small fishing village and turned around.

We rested for a while and had supper before heading into Charlottetown for the theater.  We set the GPS for the address we were given but that was the office for the theater company.  We drove around for a while and finally spotted a building with the right name.  Parking was still a problem.  Gerri dropped me off near the Confederation Building but I still had no idea where the entrance to the theater was located.  I sat and waited for about 15 minutes and then found a security guard who gave me directions around the building.  Susan met me in the lobby and showed me were we were seated.

Taken before the usher chastised Gerri
We had very good seats just a couple of rows back from the orchestra pit at center stage.  The play was a musical based n the L.M. Montgomery book Anne of Green Gables.  It has been running here 52 seasons.  Neither Gerri nor I had read the book so the story was new to us, we only knew what we had seen at the park and Green Gables house.  The acoustics were very good, I could even understand the words to most of the songs.  The play was mostly a whimsical account of Anne's adjustment to the town of Avonlea and it's adjustment to her.  Although there were serious moments the action was fast moving and very entertaining.

The musical play ended at about 10:30.  Except for the anxious times with parking and finding the theater, it was an enjoyable evening. It was midnight before we were home and ready for bed.

Tomorrow we head back to New Brunswick with only 195 km to Camping Cap Lumiere near Richibucto Village.  It started raining about the same time we went to bed.
