Thursday August 18, 2016 Richibucto Village, NB, Canada

No rain during the night and a lot of blue sky this morning.  We had our coffee and got ready to see a few sights.

First we had to TCB.  We went grocery shopping and gassed up the Jeep in a town called Bouctouche.  I found a cache in the IGA parking lot.  On the way into town we stopped and took pictures of a couple of interesting old buildings we had spotted yesterday.

Bouctouche is the home of one of the longest sand dunes in North America.  The sand dune is over ten miles long.  The Irving Companies have done a lot of conservation and protection work and the dune is a National Park.  There is a boardwalk built to help preserve the plover nesting ground and the diverse plant life.  The boardwalk goes about a fifth of the length of the dune.  Even tough the dune isn't very high it protects a large bay and provides miles of sandy beaches with shallow water going out on the ocean side.  It rained on us as we left the dune area.

We stopped for lunch at a restaurant called Daiquiri's in the town.  We had a nice view of the bay and it was comfortable sitting on their enclosed but sunlit deck.  What made it particularly nice was the great lobster rolls we ate.

It had rained while we were gone and there was new mud along the park roads.  We visited with some neighbors and then rested and caught up on computer chores before dinner at 6.

Dinner was steaks and lobster.  Lobster is in season here, so it is plentiful.  The wagon masters had bought kites and after they were assembled several of our group took a hand at sailing them  Dale also brought out his drone and flew it over the kites and RV park.  After about an hour the wind stopped cooperating and everyone gave up the kites.

Many of our group played 99 until dark.

The RV park faces the ocean, well technically the Straights of Northumberland looking east.  PEI can be seen in the distance.  The clouds gathering over the water during the sunset gave us a better light show than the sunset in the west.  The moon was full and the silvery light made a path over the water.

Back at the coach we read for awhile and called it a night around 10:30.

Tomorrow we plan to catch up on some laundry and visit a nearby soap factory.  The RV park has hired local entertainment for the evening and the group will have hors d'oeuvres and a briefing for Saturday's travel starting at 6:30.
