A decoration in the RV park
We got a slow start this morning.  I finished my coffee before we started on our day's touring.

We drove to Cade's Cove.  Cade's Cove, unlike many parts of national parks, is preserved in a historical state as opposed to a natural state.  The cove is a broad fertile valley that once had a population of over 600 people.  The Park Service has preserved about 80 buildings, including several prominent homesteads and churches.  The scenery varies from fields, pastures and wooded areas.  The main road on the Cade's Cove Loop is a one lane paved road with numerous turnouts.  Some of the buildings are on short turnouts for vehicle or along short foot paths.

Not sure what these were used for, water?

All in all this is a beautiful area with an important history.  We have enjoyed our stay in the area.

We saw several deer grazing as we neared the end of the loop.  On our return trip we stayed on the road within the park.  At a stop at a large picnic area we saw 4 wild turkeys.

The Greenbriar Scchool
We also took a short rough side road to the Greenbriar School.  This was an old one room school.  It reminded me of the one my Mother attended at Dutch Ridge in West Virginia.

We went to the Alamo Steakhouse for dinner.  The meal was excellent.  The rib-eye steaks were done just right.  As a side we had what they called Alamo potatoes.  Sliced and fried with red and green peppers.  Very good.  The restaurant was on the expensive side, but the food and service was great.  Plus there was plenty of leftovers for another meal.

Been there, got the t-shirts

Back at the RV we finished the evening with computer chores and TV.

Tomorrow we plan to drive to Gadsden, AL about 250 miles.  Since our route goes through Pigeon Forge we want to get as early a start as possible.
