Wednesday July 7, 2016 Lunenberg, Nova Scotia, Canada

We only had time for a little coffee this morning.  I set the alarm for 8 and Gerri reminded me that we had to be at the terminal by 9 for our cruise on the schooner Bluenose II.

The original Bluenose and this one were built in a local shipyard.  The original Bluenose was a fishing boat when Cod fishing was at its peak.  The Bluenose II was built in 1964 and refurbished in 2001.

Raising the sails

At noon we went to a jazz pianist presentation at St. John's church.

A model of the Bluenose's hull was on display at the Fisheries Museum.   There was a demonstration of a launching was given.  They had children from the audience drive out the wedges and braking blocks.  The third floor of the museum was dedicated to the Bluenose and featured several detailed model at different scales.

After the piano presentation Gerri went back to the coach while I went to the museum and geocaching.  I found several including one in a pet cemetery.

There were no planned activities for the evening.  but there was an impromptu gathering of most of the caravan members.

We were retired for the evening at about 10:30 after watching TV and reading.

Tomorrow we travel to Annapolis Royal.  A little over a hundred miles.  We will see more of the Bay of Fundy there.
