Saturday July 16, 2016 Codroy Valley, Newfoundland, Canada

No clouds today
With no formal plans until dinner we slept in before getting up and having our coffee.
I tried looking for a cache in the RV park but there were people in a tent near GZ and they had a big dog running loose.  I think Moe and I will try to find it before we move on in the morning.

We finally got to stirring and drove a scenic route described in a paper we got when we checked in.  We stopped at roadside burger stand, Burgers To Go.  We had chicken burgers and fries.  The food was good and hit the spot.  We drove by the Holy Trinity Episcopal church built 1913 and took pictures.  After that we went to a lighthouse at Cape Anguille.  The lighthouse was built in 1907 and is still in use. I found a cache on the road to the lighthouse, my first in Newfoundland.

We drove past the lighthouse to where the road ended.

On the way back to the RV park we stopped at Chap’s Garage.  The garage is actually a small museum featuring a couple of cars, 50’s memorabilia and Route 66 items.

Newfie Herby

Back at the coach, Gerri read and I struggled with trying to get Friday’s blog  to load.

At 6 we had dinner provided by the wagon masters.  Basic meat and potatoes.  Pork chops so tender they melted in our mouths and green beans in with the potatoes.

Dinner was followed by music from a local band, singing local songs.  The owners of the park put on a Screeching In Ceremony making us all honorary Newfies.  The ceremony consisted eating a chunk of balogna, kissing a cod, drinking a shot of local rum, or Pepsi if preferred, and dancing.  The group really got into the dancing and music.  The party lasted until almost 10.

Tomorrow is a travel day, under 200K.  I will try to get blogs posted by going to the office area to see if there is a better connection.
