Following the Barkers

Wednesday May 6, 2015 Kyle, Texas

We got up after Curtis and the kids had gone to their prospective jobs and schools.  We had our coffee and caught up on e-mail and other computer stuff.  I did some housekeeping business with our credit union.

Curtis came home early to take care of a plumbing problem. After he had that solved, we all went to Firehouse Subs and had sandwiches.   After that we visited until Dana and Gerri went to pickup the kids and run some errands with them.  Later I went to WalMart to return some items and try to find a clothes bar to use for hanging clothes in the backseat of the car.  The hooks built into the Lincoln are too small to handle more than three or four clothes hangers.  Since this has been and is a long trip we need to hang more clothes that aren't in suitcases.

I forgot to say that since late morning Dana was busy preparing the sauce for the dish she was making for supper.  The house smelled sooo good.  We ate before going to Brandon's baseball game at 6:45.

Brandon's team is in second place and have to win tonight or tomorrow night to maintain that position.  Tonight they faced the first place team,  a team that hasn't lost a game this season.  In his first time at bat Brandon hit a high pop up that the fielders couldn't handle.  He got two runs in but was stuck at first base.  He was batted in later for the score.    His team scored two more runs, ending the inning for them and bringing the other team to bat.  The opposing team were better fielders than ones in other games I have seen. They were also better hitters, scoring three runs before the inning was over.  The coach pitching for the other team seemed to be throwing a faster ball and when the batter hit it went further.
Brandon's team seemed to rise to the occasion, handling the ball better than I had seen before.  I can't do a play by play account of the game. Brandon's team was still playing to second base and Brandon made a couple of outs with his throws there.

The video is of Brandon's second time at bat.  I had a video of his first time at bat, but it was too large.

It was a very exciting game and ended with Brandon's team winning 14-8.  They have second place locked up.  To move up to first they have to win tomorrow's game and the team they beat tonight has to lose again.

Back at the house it was a hustle to get the kids cleaned up and ready for bed on time,

We went to bed a little after ten.  I read until midnight and gave it up.

Tomorrow is our last day here.  Friday we move on toward Flagstaff, AZ for a visit with Neva at her timeshare there.
