Thursday January 15, 2015 At Sea

Maybe 9 isn't sleeping in for us, maybe that is just when we should get up.  We had coffee in our rom, I had Mueslix and yogurt, Gerri had a melon bowl.

Gerri went to a shopping presentation while I booked a tour to the volcano on Hawaii.  We didn't book a tour ahead of time because we hoped to meet a friend in Hilo, Bobby Hitt who we used to work with..  Turns out he will be Maui for an outrigger canoe race.  He may visit Las Vegas later this year.  I read in the library until Gerri joined me.

We may have seen this whale in Alaska
Before going to other activities we had lunch from the international Café, soup and sandwich.  At 1 we went to another lecture on Hawaii, this time it was about whales.  At 2:15 we went to a future cruise presentation in the Explorer’s Lounge.  The Princess rep talked about cruise itineraries in the Caribbean and through the canal at Panama.

Liar's Club Panel, Chris, Brian and Alec
We met two sisters from Oregon and they joined us for Afternoon Trivia.  As a team we didn’t do as well as yesterday.  We only scored 9 correct.  Alex from the cruise staff even made it fun to do poorly.  We had met him on our cruise to Sydney a couple of years ago.

This was a formal night so I went for hors d'oeuvres by myself while Gerri got ready.  I wanted to take a picture from the Skywalk to show what a difference a day makes.  It was too clear and the sun directly ahead made poor lighting for a picture.  The turnout for the special hors d’oeuvres gathering for Elite/Platinum cruisers has been lighter than I have ever experienced.

Champagne waterfall

Captain's welcom
At 7 we went to the Piazza for the Captain’s Welcome Aboard Party and champagne waterfall.  From there it was dinner in the Capri Dining Room. We sat at a table for two, thinking we would finish sooner than at a larger table.  The service turned out to be at about the same pace.

After dinner we went to the Explorer’s Lounge for a game show called the Liar’s Club.  Three members of the cruise director’s staff gave the definition of offbeat words.  Only one is telling the truth.  Sometimes even the most outlandish definitions were the truthful ones.  As a team we didn't do well.

The show ended at about 10:45.  But, tonight we turned the clocks back an hour.  Gerri finished today’s Sudoku puzzle and went to sleep at about 11.  I followed her a little before midnight.
