Cruise 2001, Oct. 2, Last Day 33

Thursday, October 20, 2011, Flight Home, The Last Day 33
Goodbye Sydney Opera House
We had to have our luggage ready by 10 AM, be in the lobby at 11:30 for a noon departure. Our flight was at 3 PM.
We boarded the bus and got to the Sydney airport at about 12:30. We have finally found an airport worse than Las Vegas. Our bags were overweight and after checking in we had to go the far end of the check in area to pay and get boarding passes. Then a long walk to customs and then a longer walk to our gate. At least Las Vegas has trams. It was 2 when we got to our gate, a half hour before our scheduled boarding time.
The airplane served a good lunch with hot entrees. The fight was 3 hours. I watched two movies.
Goodbye Sydney Harbor Bridge
We breezed through the airport in Auckland. This leg of our trip home was the long one. The 777 is a huge aircraft, but it wasn't half full and the cabin attendants were very attentive. We watched movies, each seat had a separate system.. Supper was served, hot entrees and metal flatware. After supper we slept most of the rest of the trip. Before arriving in LA we watched another movie and we were served breakfast.  Gerri wasn’t too happy about being served pork n beans with scrambled eggs. We were through Immigration, Customs and security and at our final gate at a little after 4 PM for the last leg of our journey.
It seems amazing that we left Australia on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 3 PM and arrived home at about 7:00 PM on the same date. We lost a day going over the International Date Line on the cruise and got it back on the flight home.
This was a great trip. We saw a lot of new places, met new friends and generally had a great time.
I plan to go back over some of the blogs for this trip and add pictures. Gerri will also be posting pictures to her Facebook page.
