Monday August 8, 2016 Aboard the MV Atlantic Vision, At Sea between Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, Canada

No hurry to get moving early today.  We have 133 km to drive to Argentia.  We are supposed to be in line for the ferry ride at 3 PM.  We had our coffee and just generally hung out until noon.  Noon was check out time.  As I got ready to pull out I noticed the right mirror was out of adjustment and wouldn't respond to the power adjustment.  I found that the entire mirror was loose on the arm.  Too high to reach from the ground.  I borrowed a ladder from Dave.  He even climbed the ladder and tightened the screw.  With a little adjustment with Dave's help we soon were underway with proper rear vision.

We had only gone a short distance on Trans Canad Highway 1 when we encountered the first construction zone.  Speed limit 3-5 kph with one lane of traffic.  There were 3 of 4 more similar area's over the 70-80 km to our turnoff.  The section of Highway 100 between TCH-1 and Argentia was bumpy in spots and curvy most of the way with hills.

Once we arrived at the ferry terminal it was hurry up and wait.  We got there at 3 and the ferry's departure time was 5.  Loading seemed slow but this is a larger ferry than the one we arrived on 3 1/2 weeks ago.

We received a room key along with our boarding passes when we checked in.  Gerri had asked that we be parked near the elevator and we were.  That meant we were among the last on board. Before leaving the coach I made sure everything but the refrigerator was off.  It is a 17 hour trip, we didn't have much in the fridge anyway but the freezer was pretty full.

Not quite the Royal Princess
We took things to our room.  No one is allowed on the garage decks while the ship is underway.  After we settled into the room we met many of the rest of our group in a lounge area.

Our passage included dinner and breakfast.  We went to dinner at about 7.  It was a buffet with a variety of entrees and side dishes.  It wasn't the Princess Cruise Line but the food was plentiful and good.

Kevin Beanland and his partner
After dinner Gerri and I went to a different part of the forward lounge where a duo was playing both country western music and Newfoundland songs.  The main singer was once known as the Air Canada Fiddler and had appeared all over Canada and in many US states.  Of course he had DVDs for sale.  We listened through an one hour set and then went to our room.  Many of our group were playing cards in the game room when we went by.

In our room we watched a little TV and read for awhile.
