Civiche

I was surprised when I got up this morning and found Gerri and Neva still at the unit. Gerri's stomach started bothering her during the night. Gerri and Neva went to cooking school, today they prepared Ceviche.

Beet Salad

Folk Dancers

Tenderloin

Red Snapper

It hasn't been real crowded at the pool this week, so we were still able to get a spot during Loteria. As it turned out we were in a second row from a pool we weren't usually beside. Later Gerri spotted three lounges closer to the towel stand and we were back on familiar ground. Gerri won one game of Loteria.

Tonight we had planned to go to a new to us restaurant, Hacienda El Coyote. Their advertisement says they only use locally produced foods and that they have a stage show featuring groups that exhibit local culture.

It is taxi time again. Living where we do and always having transportation, we don't always appreciate the fact that many people have to accept the cost of the taxi as a part of the cost of eating out. We have learned over the years that it is cheaper to pay the cab fare than it is to rent a car that isn't used everyday.

At Hacienda El Coyote
The Hacienda El Coyote is a fairly new restaurant at the last corner before heading either back to the highway or on to the marina. Gerri started her meal with sopas, there were three sopas with huitlacoche, chicken tinga and beefstew. Neva and I shared a beet salad. The sopas were passed around for us all to try. Gerri even tried the beet salad, she reports that she still doesn't like beets. Gerri and Neva had Empapelado Fish. It was Red Snapper wrapped in banana leaves filled with zucchini, carrots, mushrooms, tomato, onion, coriander and a touch of Rosemary and Thyme. I had the Tampiquena Style Beef Tenderloin served with cheese enchilada with mole poblano, rajas (sliced peppers), guacamole, rice and beans. The entertainment was young dancers doing traditional Mexican folk dancing. We shared churros for desert. It was an excellent meal in pleasant surroundings.

A taxi back to the hotel topped off the evening.
