Saturday April 4, 2015 Long Beach, CA

This is the start of a trip that will continue until mid-May.  The trip starts with a two night stay at Todd and Jeannette's home in Long Beach, CA.  On monday we board the Golden Princess and set sail for a  ten day Mexican Riviera cruise.  We will be meeting Bill and Elaine Cavagnaro on board.  Upon returning we start our road trip to Mississippi for Gerri's 50th class reunion.  We will be visiting friends and relatives on the trip, both going to Mississippi and on the way back to Las Vegas.  As usual internet may be limited while we are cruising.  The road trip is in the car, so I have no idea about internet availability.  What with the internet connection and the possible sameness of a full day driving , these blogs might not be posted every day.

Today we packed up Gerri's car.  We had to jockey for space because we were taking a coffee table and end table to Todd and Jeannette.  Both furniture pieces are like trunks so we were able to put some things inside.  We also had an extra suitcase for the road trip.

We left home at 9:30.  We stopped for lunch at the In and Out in Barstow.  A stop for fuel at the Costco in Victorville and we arrived in Long Beach at about 3.

The Long Beach Gran Prix is in progress so Todd drove us all to the area of the aquarium in Long Beach and we watched the first running of the E-Prix, a race of electric cars that resemble Gran Prix cars but without the roar of engines. We sat at grandstands on the front straight away by the finish lines but could not see any of the action on the turns.

It took quite awhile to get out of the parking lot.  We decided on Mexican food and went to a El Torito Mexican Restaurant.  We all must of worked up voracious appetites because we ate every thing but one of the enchiladas that Gerri had ordered.

Back at the house Todd, Wyatt and I shot their new bb gun on a range they had erected in their side yard.  Gerri, Jeannette and Emma stayed in the house.  The kids went to bed early and we finished the evening early.  I read for a short while and played a few rounds on my solo games of Words with Friends.  I was nodding off while trying to put the letters into words so I gave up at about 10:30.
