Monday March 9, 2015 Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico

Last night we went to bed at about 11:30 and slept soundly until 3 this morning.  Gerri had everything packed. Brother-in-law John Connolly loaded the suitcases into Gerri’s Lincoln.  By 3:30 we were on the road to pick up Gerri’s Mom, Neva Barnhart.  This trip is to Cabo San Lucas for two weeks at the Hacienda Del Mar.  Normally, we would spend another two weeks at the Club Regina.  The Club Regina has not opened since last year’s hurricane.  Neva was packed and at the door and we headed back across town to McCarran Airport for our 7AM flight to Los Cabo with a stop in Los Angeles.  John dropped us off at the American Airlines doors at 5AM.

Neva and I both had ordered wheelchairs for the trip from the ticket counter to the gate.  We slow up the trip to the gate if we try to walk.  Having a wheelchair usually gets us through security faster.  The skycap took our bags in and had Neva and I wait at chairs near the door for the wheelchairs.  He accompanied Gerri to the ticket counter even taking care of the check in at the kiosk.  There was very little wait for the chairs, hardly anyone at the security checkpoint and we were soon at the C gates.  Gerri got us coffee and bran muffins.

Our flight left on time and I slept most of the way to Los Angeles.  It turned out that our flight on to Los Cabos was the same airplane leaving from the same gate.  The wait time while the air craft was cleaned was about a half hour.  I couldn’t get on Facebook to check in.  The flight to Los Cabos was uneventful and as usual I slept most of the way.

We got through customs and immigrations quickly and got out of the terminal building with minimal interference from the time share hawkers.  We had made reservations for transportation to the Hacienda Del Mar through Transcabo and met their agent just outside the terminal.  The ride from the airport at San Jose Del Cabo is about 20 miles and we were registered by 1:30.  On the drive from the airport we saw that there was a lot of new construction going on and from the van we didn't notice any hurricane damage.  Since our room wouldn't be ready until 4, we engaged a Taxi and went shopping at Costco in Cabo San Lucas.

Before shopping we all had hotdogs and a soda.  At Costco in Las Vegas these hotdogs are $1.50.  At the current exchange rate of 14.95 Pesos to the dollar they are cheaper here in  Mexico.

They call this an Ocean view
We got a taxi for the return trip and were back at the Hacienda Del Mar by 4:30.  Our room was ready and the bellman took us, our baggage and groceries to room 1732.  This is a new building and we hadn't stayed in it before.  We are on the third floor overlooking a new pool and play area.  We can see a little ocean from here, but not much.  We relaxed on the balcony until dark.  It was very pleasant with a light breeze.  We had a chicken salad for dinner.

View from our balcony

After dinner we played a game of dominoes.  I wonder what Mexicans call the game of Mexican Train?  Gerri won handily with Neva second, of course leaving me in the dust at last place.

We only get 30 minutes of internet time a day,  It cost $12 for a day.  We will have to make do without too much withdrawal pain.
