Our 1st view of Land's end |
We
went to bed fairly early last night so we were up at about eight and ordered
our breakfast from room service. By the
time we were moving around the ship was at anchor in Medano Bay with the Land's End in sight. We couldn’t see the arch,
but had a good view of Lover’s Beach and the entrance to the marina at Cabo. The Queen Victoria of the Cunard Line was also
anchored in the bay. The Queen Victoria
left San Pedro after the Golden Princess.
We don’t know if they stopped in San Diego.
Gerri got to drive the harbor taxi |
We
met Bill and Elaine in the Bernini Dining Room on deck 5 and got our numbers
for the tender ride to the dock in the inner harbor. The boat that took us in was a Cabo Harbor
Taxi instead of one of the ship’s tenders.
As we walked toward the businesses we watched
a native ceremony consisting of four men on tethers descended from a tall pole. A fifth man was on the top of the pole, the
divers spun around the pole thirteen times before landing on the ground. Of course we forgot the name of the ceremony.
Elaine
stopped at a Mexican curio shop and bought another tablecloth and napkins. We had bought some as a gift for her a few years ago
and they have been very nice. Since we
don’t remember the price we paid, we don’t know if she got a good deal or
not. After shopping we went to a nearby
cache. I had done it a couple of years
ago on another cruise. We tried for
another one that I had found last month, but it was missing again. After caching we went to Solomon’s Landing
and had Guacamole and Chips. We were disappointed
that they didn’t make the Guacamole at the table like they did last month. It was good though it wasn’t the show we had
before. The internet wasn’t working well
at Solomon’s, but sometime during the early afternoon the time changed to whatever
time zone we are in. Now we don’t have
to add an hour for the correct time.
We
decided to go back to the ship and have lunch at the International Café. Going back to the ship we were on a ship’s
tender and it got very warm while the tender filled up and it was stuffy even
once it was under way. Gerri and I had
grilled Tuna sandwiches and Bill and Elaine had Cubano sandwiches. We went back to our room for a while before
meeting Bill and Elaine back at the Explorer’s Lounge. Betty and Larry joined us for spirited
conversation, Betty dominating. We
decided we wanted to be on deck as the ship left the bay hoping to get a better view of Los
Arcos. The day had turned overcast and
the view was just ok. When the Golden Princess
left the bay we turned northeast.
We
went to the Hors d'oeuvres for Platinum, Elite and Suite status cruisers. We were disappointed, they were serving Chips
and Salsa and we had had those already,
The Skywalker did afford us a nice view of the coast as we traveled north
past the Hacienda Del Mar. We saw the
Queen Victoria leave the bay, from their direction of travel they must have
been headed to Mazatlán or Puerto Vallarta.
Our last view of Lands End |
We
had a light dinner at the Horizon Court before returning to our stateroom. We got cleaned up and ready for bed after
deciding not to go out to any activities or shows. Tomorrow we are in La Paz tomorrow and have
to be on the dock at 7:50 for a city tour.
