Monday April 6, 2015 Long Beach, CA

When we got up this morning no one was stirring.  Every one but Jeannette was still in bed.  She had gone to her swimming exercise class.  Later, I made coffee and Jeannette made breakfast.

Emma and Wyatt, let the hunt begin
After breakfast Todd hid plastic eggs in the yard for a belated Easter egg hunt.  Emma had put different small items and notes in the eggs.  After finding all the eggs the items were spread on the table.  Emma had written a Bible story using the notes and items.

The loot

We got our luggage into the car, with a little rearranging we had it set up with our cruise luggage at the rear and the other luggage for our road trip further inside.  Boarding the ship was set for 1, The World Cruise Center at the San Pedro section of the Port of Los Angeles was about 15 miles away.  We left Todd's at
about 11.

Except for one wrong turn near the end the drive was uneventful.  We went to the drop off area for Berth 93.  The porter there was very helpful and convinced us to check all of our bags, even the ones we normally carry on.  That had two good results; We didn't have to schlep them across the parking lot and we didn't have to lug them through the check in and boarding process.  The parking lot was very crowded.  We ended up parking nearer the battleship Iowa than the Golden Princess.  We were picked up in a shuttle, so we didn't have to walk very far.

After we went through security we saw and talked to Ron.  Ron is a friend of Bill and Elaine Cavagnaro who are also on this cruise.  There were delays in boarding due to a Coast Guard
inspection.  All but one of our bags were delivered shortly after we got to our stateroom.  By the time we got everything put away the other bag was delivered.

The au rigor muster drill was set for 4:15,  We saw Bill and Elaine there.  Their room is on deck eight in the same number block as ours.

For this trip we are dining at 5:30.  Our table mates are the Cavagnaro's and their friends Ron and Bobette.  There were two empty chairs but we don't know if they are assigned.  After dinner we went to the Explorer's Lounge for Trivia, we only got half the questions correct.  We went to the Wheelhouse to listen to music but didn't care for the style.  It was back to the Explorer's Lounge for Karaoke.  I never really cared for Karaoke but it was entertaining and a couple of the singers were talented.  We then went to the Princess Theater and saw most of the Welcome aboard show.  Between the Explorer's and the theater we stopped briefly at the Crooner's Piano Bar, the pianist sounded like someone we may enjoy,  Beside sing and playing he interacted well with his audience.

Back at the room we weren't up for very long.  The last few days were enjoyable but busy and tiring.

Jeannette sent us a picture of the kids kayaking.  Todd took the family Kayaking after we left.
