Monday August 4. 2014 Rosedale, British Columbia, Canada

Exiting the Hat Creek Ranch
We got up and started drinking our coffee while getting ready to travel.  There wasn't much to do except take the slides in.  Hat Creek Ranch had been a dry camp with no electricity.  We left Hat Creek at 8 AM.  The next park in Rosedale didn't want us to arrive there before 3, so we had plenty of time.

The store and shops at the bottom of Hell's Gate

About 90 miles into the trip we stopped at the Hell's Gate Air Tram.  Hell's Gate is the name for a gorge where the Frasier River narrows and causes a very large swift set of rapids.  An engineering error during the construction of the railroad through the gorge further blocked the canyon.  That landslide nearly killed off the salmon population because the salmon couldn't swim upstream to their spawning area.  Now there are fish ladders that make the swim less strenuous and the fish population has rebounded.

A big chair for a big rest

The tram descends nearly 500' from the highway to the bottom of the gorge.  There is a hiking path for those that don't want to pay or just want the adventure.

We rode the tram down, had lunch and rode it back up.  Dave and Christian and I walked 1/3 of a mile to a cache further along the highway. Susan, our tail gunner, walked with us.  She wanted to see caching close up.  I'm glad we found this one since we had an observer.

We arrived at the Camper Land RV Resort at 3:30. This was a holiday in British Columbia, BC Day, and the RV Park was very busy.  It also was one of the largest parks we have stayed at on this trip.

It was hot and our group was scattered out.  We talked to a few but there was no get together like in many other places.

We called it a night at about 11.  Tomorrow we are in the USA.  It is only 30 miles before we cross the border and then another 60 to the RV Park at Anacortes, WA.
