I called the RV Park in Florida to follow up on the Fax I sent yesterday. All turned out well. They agreed to abide by the terms of the original reservation I had made back in May. That is a load off my mind. Of course it remains to be seen what they will say when we actually arrive there on Tuesday.
Shrimp for the Barbie |
After the wash guys were paid we drove toward the mainland just past the bridge to a produce stand that also sold fresh shrimp. On the way we stopped at a cache, I took a short walk in the woods and found the cache. At the produce stand the price was $7.50 a pound for jumbo shrimp, we bought two pounds. There were 10-12 shrimp per pound after the heads were removed. We also bought some peaches, a shrimp sheller and some locally made shrimp sauce.
Ah for the days in Mexico when Jumbo shrimp cost $2.00 a kilo that was 1987. Times have changed every where. We took the shrimp back to the coach. I will shell them tomorrow. We plan to grill some tomorrow for supper and freeze the rest for a couple of meals before we fly to Spain.
After putting the shrimp in the fridge we headed to a restaurant named the Low Country Backyard. Bummer, we had to take the toll bridge to get there, another $1.25 ($2.50 round trip) added to the dinner check. We spent $2.00 on tolls yesterday to get to and from the Broad Harbor Marina. Gerri had found the restaurant on the internet and it had rave reviews It lived up to the reviews. I had the blackened swordfish topped with grilled shrimp and alfalfa sprouts, as sides I had Lima Beans and cheesy mashed potatoes Gerri had one of the house specials, grilled shrimp and spicy sausage served on a bed of creamy grits with a side of Lima Beans. Gerri had some left overs to go back to the coach.
Instead of returning directly to the RV park we drove in the other direction to see what else was on Hilton Head Island. There were some shopping centers and other businesses, several large resorts and so many marinas they were hard to count. Most of these were behind screens of trees and there must have been an ordinance allowing only low pedestal type signs. We determined that after some of the area's history, the main attractions are golf and fishing along with a few Eco type business offering tours and zip-lines. Back at the coach we visited with our neighbors on the east, Ron and Wilma, until after dark. They live in Savanna, GA. With a little breeze it was comfortable to sit outside.
Gerri has been washing clothes here at the coach instead of going to a laundromat. It is a little more work and slower but we don't have to hang around while the clothes are washing or drying, plus cheaper.
We watched TV and did computer stuff until going to bed a little after 11:30. It rained for awhile shortly before we went to sleep. That figures after we had the coach washed. I wonder if Mr. Baldeagle gives rain checks?
