Friday July 15, 2016 Codroy Valley, Newfoundland, Canada

The Grand Codroy River
I got up at 7 and made coffee.  It didn’t taste too bad so that was a good sign.  We were scheduled to leave for the ferry terminal.  I moved slowly while getting the outside ready to roll.  We were still ready to go before 9. It was only about 3 miles to the ferry terminal.  I was still a little light headed so I was glad it wasn't further.

Cued up
We had reservations and were assigned a lane.  We got lucky and were pulled aside for a safety check which took about 5 minutes.  After about an hour and a half in line we started loading.  We were parked deck 3 one of the two car decks, next to the elevator at our request.  The passenger lounges were on the 7th and 9th decks.  We made our way to 7 and found seats.  Our seats faced the rear of the boat.  They were comfortable reclining chairs.  Many of our group went to deck 9 where they said there were lounges.  I was content to stay were I was because I planned to sleep as much as possible.

I did sleep quite a bit.  We had snacks of cheese and crackers, smoked salmon and apples during the crossing.  With the way the wind was blowing at the RV park and the waiting area, we thought there might be some rough sea.  That fear turned out to be unfounded, we had also taken Dramamine before boarding the ferry.

We never saw land until were were in the harbor.  The fog was very thick the last 20 miles or so.  We arrived in Port Aux Basques at about 6:45.  And it took quite awhile to get the vehicles unloaded.  The time changed by a half an hour when we got to Newfoundland.

The drive to the RV park was only about 25 miles on the Trans Canada Highway,  we are staying at the Grand Codroy Campground and RV Park in Codroy Valley, Newfoundland.

The only type of moose we have seen so far

We got to the park at about 7:30.  The fog had lifted but I had to contend with mosquitoes while setting up  We only have power and electric and the electric barely runs the microwave.  Besides me walking down toward the water for pictures we didn't venture out after setting up.  Gerri warmed up left overs for dinner and served them with bean salad.  With no TV or internet we went to bed at about 10:30.

The only suggested activity on the itinerary tomorrow is a nearby light house. Dinner will be provided by the wagon masters.
