Wednesday June 8, 2016 St. Charles, MO

There were a few high clouds this morning, nothing threatening.  I made the coffee and we began to put things in order for travel.  I had already checked the tires and emptied the tanks.  I cleaned the windshield, the rest of the coach and the Jeep need a good bath.

St. Charles, MO was our destination for today's travel.  We decided to reroute through Jefferson City to see the capitol building.  We have decided to visit state capitols when we are near by and make an album of pictures of them as we visit. Not wanting to drive the motor home in an area like a capitol complex, I set the GPS for one of the two Walmarts in Jefferson City.  We arrived at the Walmart at about 1:30.  The drive had been along good State roads, US and Interstate highways.  We had a short slow down for construction and a longer one for a serious accident on US-65, they had warning signs on the highway for about 10 miles warning of the accident ahead.  We only saw one vehicle and from the looks of it there had to have been fatalities.

We parked in an area where some semis were already parked and unhooked the Jeep for the drive to the capitol building. The drive was only about 3 miles, we had already seen a glimpse of the capitol dome from the highway.  The style of the building is similar to the US Capitol Building and many other state capitols built in the early 1900s.  As with other capitol buildings we have visited this one is surrounded by other government buildings and difficult to get good pictures, either too close or too far away. The front of the building was fenced and being refurbished.

Across the wide Missouri

We decided to stock up on groceries before heading on to St. Charles.  It had been awhile and the bill was shocking.  Most of the rest of the trip was via Interstate Highways. I did find one cache at a rest stop.  I also picked up a couple of chigger bites.  I think I am averaging 3 bites per cache.  Without the dash air it was hot enough that we ran the generator and roof air to be comfortable. We arrived at the Sundermeier RV Park, http://www.sundermeierrvpark.com/, and were set up by 6 PM.  The office was closed when we arrived, but a package was waiting for us with all the information we needed.  We had only seen one truck wash along the trip and were past it by the time we saw the sign.  I checked the brochure for the RV park and no mobile washes were listed there.  Maybe en route to Dubuque.

For dinner we had our left overs from the Fall Creek Restaurant.  Reading and TV finished off the evening
