Last night Gerri drew a slip for preparation for today's continental breakfast. So I spent some time last night cutting a watermelon into small wedges. I took the watermelon up to the fridge in the meeting hall after I cut it.
This morning I was up early enough to go to the continental breakfast. Gerri and Glenna stayed in bed.
The day was a free day, no chapter activities. Gerri and I went geocaching, me for the caches and Gerri to find a Post Office and see the sights. My GPS was acting up and wouldn't calculate direction and distance so we drove north on the peninsula to Sister Bay and Gill's Rock. We found a Piggly Wiggly in Sister Bay and bought some items for the pre-supper gathering.
We got instructions to the restaurant from David and Iva Starke, the rally hosts, it was about a 4 mile drive to a town named Fish Creek. The restaurant, named Pelletier's, featured a Fish Boil. Many of the restaurants in the area feature Fish Boils. Fish Boils were started by Scandinavian settlers as a way to feed large groups quickly. The Boil is done in large kettle over an open fire. The ingredients are Whitefish, small red potatoes, onions. After the Boil they are served with bread and drawn butter. What makes the Boil is the process. As the pot boils the oil from the fish collects on the surface. At the end of the cooking time oils is thrown on the flames causing them to flare up and boil the pot over, removing the fish oil. The meal was good, but the fish still had bones we had to work around.
Tuesday
I got up and went to the continental breakfast and brought back some pound cake for Gerri and Glenna. I went out caching and found seven, DNFed two.
Gerri and I went to the pre-supper mixer, Glenna stayed in the coach because she didn't want to go out in the wind.
We went to supper at a restaurant down town for their early bird special. It was a great meal. Not everyone at the rally went to the same restaurant. After the meal we sat outside and visited with the Starkes.
