Monday February 27, 2012
We were up early enough to be ready and checked out at 9:30. It's always sad to be leaving Cabo. Although my Blogs don't convey lot of excitement, we really enjoyed ourselves in this beautiful place. We are really blessed to have the means and faculties to enjoy so much of God's wonderful creation.
We had breakfast at Tomatoes overlooking the ocean with quite a bit of whale activity.
Our shuttle to the airport was at 11:20. I had talked to one of the bell men who moved us a couple of weeks ago. He had been a policeman in Tiajuana. He told me that they were shot at every day and they endured a lot of temptation from drug cartels, some succumbed, all for $2900 Mexican Pesos every two weeks. That is about $500 USD per month. As a bell man he makes $250 to $450 USD a week.
We went through airport security pretty quickly and boarded our flight at about 1:30. Smooth flight to San Diego.
Gerri's sister Montyne picked us up at the airport. It was raining when we landed and rained heavily on the way to Escondido, which also included some hail. It took over an hour to get to the Lawrence Welk Resort. Gerri's mom Neva is there this week. Gerri will stay and drive home with her mom on Sunday. I plan to drive home on Thursday, March 1. Montyne will be with them and her husband John will be there on Friday.
On the way from San Diego to Escondido I called my mother to wish her a happy birthday, 91st. She stayed with Curt and Dana while we were on this trip. They are taking her to the Olive Garden and having cake for her birthday.
We had soup and cornbread for supper plus fresh strawberries and angel food cake, a great meal for a cold rainy day.

  1. It sounds like you had a great time, but let me welcome you back to the US. You were missed, but I did keep up with the blog. Thanks for that!
